Married Life in College

Joan and I were married on August 8, 1946, in Joan's home church, Oakfield Baptist, in Rockford, Michigan. We returned to Cleveland, Tennessee, to continue our training at Bob Jones College. While there, we lived in a small house trailer just thirteen feet long. We graduated together in 1947.

Later in 1947, we relocated to Greenville, South Carolina, where Bob Jones College had moved and become Bob Jones University. I studied for my master's degree in 1947 and 1948. Joan taught in a country school near Greer. I also pastored a church in Stateville, North Carolina. After I graduated, we moved to Statesville in 1948. They knew we had plans to go to the mission field, but they welcomed us gladly.
